No-one living in the 21st century could possibly agree that all advertising should be banned, but in my opinion the way certain products are advertised should be regulated by law. If there were no advertisements , where would we take information about products from?
I think that the advertisements addressed to children should be banned. Children are easily impressionable and, whats more, it has been proved that until they are about eight years old they cant distinguish an advertisement from other TV programmes. Encouraged by the advertising, they can for example make their parents buy excessive amounts of sweets which may lead to obesity and poor health. The advertisements can also produce conflicts between children pestering their parents for every new toy they see on TV and adults who simply cant afford to buy every new item shown on TV.
There should also be some legal regulation of advertisements that can be displayed in the street. I believe that the main source of problems here is the overuse of naked female body. That kind of advertisement may hurt peoples feelings, but more importantly, it can be dangerous for drivers. Just think of all these men stuck in the traffic jams whose eyes get caught by the picture of a beautiful nude woman - how can they concentrate on the road? Thats why that kind of advertising should be banned.
All in all I dont think it would be a good idea to ban all advertising. But I wish the advertisement creators were more sensible.
